Det är tidigt 1980-tal. Någonstans i södra Sverige pågår en audition till Kvällspostens talangjakt Sommarchansen. Upp på scen kliver en ganska stöddig man, enligt uppgift flankerad av en ung beundrarinna. Han framför Vindens melodi på ett sällsynt vingligt sätt. Juryn grämer sig över att de inte fångade hans insats på band, och ber honom därför att ”för säkerhets skull” sjunga låten en gång til...

it's crazy that this seems to be the only video version of this performance (regarding the if only tonight we could sleep portion) that doesnt have a watermark and/or super crap video quality in all of youtube (apparently)... and it's "just" one of the better shreds out there... that makes it fairly unique, but also sad that the non shred version can't be enjoyed as well

What’s the original performance?
Ripped it from a VHS called "The Cure Play Out", and I believe this performance was their unplugged session for MTV. I edited clips from "If only tonight we could sleep", "Boys don't cry" and "A letter to Elise" together to get a nice mix of musical expressions.

Just ... Masterpiece! The Cure really outdid themselves here. And their hair though - so ahead of their time, I mean that look hasn't even come back yet! Real bohemians they were - you can't fake that. No hipster cajon or ukelele in sight - no sir ... These boys had bongos, toy pianos, and BASSOONS! Go suck on that Tiny Tim!
